Exclusive On-Site Collections
While we are working hard to place more materials online, many of our most valuable resources remain in-person assets. We maintain extensive files of member-donated family genealogies that are available exclusively in our physical Genealogy Room. To protect privacy, these specific files will not be moved online unless the donors explicitly grant permission for digital member access. We invite you to visit us in person to explore these unique, non-digital records.

Our Bulletins
Since 1967, the Wilkes Genealogical Society has produced four bulletins annually, sharing vital family research and local history with members and organizations worldwide.
Transition to Digital Downloads
In 2016, we began offering “e-Bulletins” in PDF format via email. However, due to large file sizes, many of these emails were rejected by service providers or lost in spam folders.
To ensure more reliable access, bulletins are now available for direct download through our website. Members can log in at their convenience to access both current issues and our extensive archives.
The Genealogy Room
The Society’s physical collection—including books, periodicals, microfilm, CDs, and unique family files—is proudly housed in the Local History and Genealogy Room of the Wilkes County Public Library.
Planning Your Visit
- Location: Wilkes County Public Library, North Wilkesboro, NC.
- Staffing: Please note that the Genealogy Room is not regularly staffed.
- Recommendation: Before traveling, we strongly recommend calling the library to verify current hours and to arrange for a WGS volunteer to provide research assistance.
