This compilation includes all the entries for Wilkes County, NC, Justices of the Peace as written in the original records kept at the courthouse. Every page was photocopied by the Wilkes County Genealogical Society and given to me to be typed. A few pages were faded and worn, and did not copy very well. I made my best effort at reading these pages, but when I simply could not read an entry I used question marks (?) to denote that information was written in the space, but that I could not read it.

The entries are first presented in the original order as found in the records, which is by township chronologically. The same entries are then presented in alphabetical order to serve as an index. The alphabetical list will make it easier to find a certain individual. The original order may show, for example, that one person was appointed as a result of the resignation of another. The original order also shows the fellow justices of the person of interest.
