Join us to learn about “The Notorious Outlaw Lige Church” and other works by author Lane Dyer. A tale that began with basic genealogical research has now been turned into a riveting book.

A forgotten crime. A tale of murder and vengeance. “The Notorious Outlaw Lige Church” is a true crime novel of 1880s Wilkes County based on extensive research.

Author, columnist for The Wilkes Record, and Wilkes County native Lane Dyer will speak about how his efforts to research his family tree led him to discover a terrible and long forgotten crime.

The Wilkes Genealogical Society, Inc. was established by a local small group of interested people in 1967. Since that time, the Society has published various types of genealogical materials and continues to collect and provide citizens with a wide array of materials for research endeavors. These materials are housed at the Wilkes County Public Library.
